Antique Afshar rug woven in the south-west of Persia with a colourful vibrant interesting designs of repeating boteh’s. Woven on a soft wool foundation, they tend to be light to touch and come in a variety of designs. This rug is no exception, amazing soft wool in a fantastic variety of colours. The rug is also beautifully finished with kelim ends.

Afshars are a tribal group which originally came from Azerbijan, between the Tigris and Euphrates, but after a dispute in the late 16th century with the Turkish sultan they left their homeland for their location during the late 19th century in the south of Persia.
