Description

A beautiful pale antique Chelaberd rug from the Kazak region with the striking repeating ‘Sunburst’ motif in the centre. In excellent condition with muted dyes and a soft wool pile all over.  Some nice abrash, dye change, can be seen in the background where the weaver has used different shades of pink and biscuit toned dyes.  A subtle antique rug for a traditional or contemporary interior.

Rugs bearing this name come from the highland area of the Caucasus whose centre is the town of Kazak. Woven by semi-nomadic shepherds of the region. They use fabulous vegetable dyes and high quality hand spun wool from their own herd.
